Jamal Ademola is a Nigerian-American film director, award winning artist, animator and actor.
In advertising, Jamal has collaborated with global brands such as Google, Apple, Skechers, House of Marley, and Chobani. His award-winning Northwell Health spot, Fearless Leader, earned a Muse Award, demonstrating his ability to craft impactful cultural narratives.
As an artist, Jamal has exhibited widely, with showings at the Wassaic Project, DOC NYC, Images Festival, Black Cultural Archives, Alchemy Film & Arts, The New School, and the August Wilson Center. His installations and film-based artworks reflect a deep engagement with the visual language of moving images.
Whether in film, advertising, or the gallery space, Jamal’s work redefines storytelling by pushing the boundaries of form, medium, and expression.
House of Aama: Threads of Legacy
Jamal’s documentary projects include House of Aama: Threads of Legacy for PBS American Masters, and he is currently in production on They Came From The Clouds, a feature film supported by Comcast NBCUniversal, BAVC Media, PAM-CUT, and Kala Art Institute. As the creative director of The Blind Couple From Mali, an upcoming feature documentary on Grammy-nominated musicians Amadou & Mariam, directed by Ryan Marley, Jamal continues to
champion stories of love and resilience.
Fearless Leader
"Fearless Leader" a commercial for Northwell Health that he co-directed with MJZ director Fredrik Bond, won a Muse Award for Creativity in 2020. Keenly aware of the barriers that black talent face in film, TV and advertising industries, Jamal is dedicated to decolonial practices and creating space for more underrepresented storytellers.
